The Opera Posted 7/19/2001 by Diamonds
When a gaming friend told me three weeks ago there was a new MOD (modification) called Opera coming out, I thought to myself, “great… another MOD.” But this is far from another modification, it’s a total conversion! Using the popular Half-Life game engine, Opera is based off of the movie style Blood Opera. Blood Opera is a popular Hong Kong movie genre in which one person (the star) takes on another Boss type villain and his army of Mooks. Mooks are the people that you find in a movie who seem to have been taught how to shoot at the Blind Man’s Shooting Academy. One keynote about Blood Opera movies is that they are done with great and notable style. This style is portrayed with kicks, flips, dives and rolls. It has everything that a great action flick needs to keep you interested.

Microsoft to add flexibility to their XP installs! Posted 7/18/2001 by §taßßeR
In a move sure to be seen as an attempt at compromise, Microsoft has decided to allow PC manufacturers the latitude in their system installs of XP to disable applications and add icons for programs such as Real Player and AOL. This is viewed as quite a concession from Microsoft as the look of XP was to be almost free of icons. "We recognize that some provisions in our existing Windows licenses have been ruled improper by the court, so we are providing computer manufacturers with great flexibility," said Steve Ballmer, Chief Executive at the software giant. » read more
